Strelitzia Nicolai is a plant native of South Africa. Similar to the banana plant, it has solid stems and slender fan-shaped leaves.

Perfect as an indoor or outdoor plant in warmer or milder climates, it requires many years before flowering and has a very important and intrusive root system. An interesting feature of this plant is that it goes into vegetative rest in the summer months.

It filters out many pollutants including formaldehyde, which is present in carpets, furniture and cleaning products.

It likes light but not direct light.
